We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Purchasing Manager to help support our Bedding Products – Drawn Wire group. The responsibility of the Purchasing Manager will include collaborating with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements for equipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions. And assess current material availability; reasonably predicts future availability based on market, delivery methods, and other variables.
So, what will you be doing as Purchasing Manager?

- Prepare and present market conditions and merchandise cost reports.
- Prepare and process purchase orders and requisitions for materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Draft, explain, and implement instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing and contract management.
- Evaluate and approve conditions for issuing and awarding bids.
- Resolve grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain and/or implement purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
- Act as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers.
- Coordinate removal or disposal of surplus materials.
- Administer the departmental budget.
- Maintain accurate inventory of spare parts and consumables required for preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely availability of critical maintenance parts and materials to support TPM schedules.
- Work with maintenance and operations teams to forecast and procure parts for scheduled PM activities.
- Analyze and negotiate pricing for maintenance-related materials to reduce downtime costs and improve equipment reliability.
- Identify and coordinate the disposal or replacement of obsolete maintenance parts in alignment with TPM standards.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Understanding of business and management principles.
- Thorough understanding of materials and supplies used in the company.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
- May require travel.
- At least three years of experience at manager level in related field required.
