The responsibility of the Operations Manager is to provide support and direction for the drawn wire operations, while providing support to the branch’s Mission and Vision. Responsible for coordinating and directing the components of efficient manufacturing operations, ensuring production, maintenance, and personnel functions operate in a team atmosphere to achieve the goals of the operation. Works closely with the Branch Manager, Branch Controller, Purchasing Manager, Customer Service Team, Quality System Manager, Safety and Environmental Director, Human Resources, Maintenance and TPM Coordinator to ensure a safe working environment is maintained while maximizing efficiencies of the operation. Supervises a group of four salaried personnel.

 

So, what will you be doing as an Operations Manager?

 

  • Identify and stop further processing of non-conformances related to products, processes, or the quality systems.
  • Take action to prevent non-conformities related to the product produced, services provided or the ISO 9001:2015 management system.
  • Make suggestions for improvement and verify the implementation of solutions.
  • Know the location of and understand their control plans, work instructions and specifications
  • Supervises the Production Supervisors and Scheduler.
  • Developing production tasks, which support the manufacturing processes.
  • Developing physical layouts to support these tasks in the most efficient manner possible.
  • Determining staffing requirements for the manufacturing operations.
  • Must strive for continuous cost reductions in all areas of responsibility.
  • Efficiently and effectively utilize machines, materials, methods and labor to achieve     production goals.
  • Must strive for continuous profit and quality impact.
  • Assess and evaluate productivity of all manufacturing equipment.
  • Supervise Scheduler in generating weekly production schedules for designated department and performing tracing for schedule stability and shop order performance.
  • Participate in S&OP process.
  • Planning and negotiation of labor opportunities.
  • Job training and progression programs.
  • Initiation of career progression programs.
  • Sustainment of employee morale.

  • Ensuring the correct usage of Internal and external safety programs.
  • Ensuring the correct usage of quality programs and procedures.
  • Ensuring the correct usage of Labor and production recording practices.
  • Ensuring the correct usage of daily inventory procedures.
  • Interact with customers to solve problems.
  • Review operations reporting and foresee problems with processes.
  • Initiate corrective action and follow through for manufacturing opportunities.
  • Coordinate periodic communication meetings between Production, Maintenance and Personnel.
  • Participate in Sales and Operational Planning (SOP) process.
  • Perform salary reviews, screen, hire and train manufacturing supervision and staff positions.
  • Communicate continuously with all manufacturing partners.
  • Set productivity goals for each manufacturing team.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Performs any other tasks related to the operation of this Branch as directed by the Branch Manager.

 

This position may require occasional overtime and travel.

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Management or a related field.
  • Exceptional knowledge of the manufacturing process used by the company.
  • Product familiarity, including the product structures.

  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Multiple tasks oriented
  • Ability to motivate employees to achieve company goals.
  • Good understanding of Continuous Improvement, ISO 9001:2015, and TPM systems.
  • Good communication skills.
