We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Manufacturing Engineer (Controls Engineer) within our Carthage, MO operation to help support our Automotive  business.  Did you know we are the world’s leading designer and manufacturer of seating support and comfort systems for transportation manufacturers, as well as tier one and two suppliers within the automotive industry?  That’s right!  In fact, in 2019, we were named as one of GM’s “Supplier of the Year” recipients.  Our automotive products fall into four primary groups:  Seating and Lumbar support, Wireless Charging, Motors and Actuators, and Mechanical Cables.  If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

 

As a Manufacturing Engineer (Controls Engineer) you will be responsible for the smooth operation and integration of the coordinated machines and robots in our automated manufacturing environment. Not only new processes but also existing processes are continuously reviewed, and improvement measures are implemented in close cooperation with adjacent areas. You will also be a standard member of core teams, bring in their knowledge and expertise in early stages of process and machine development and design to meet our customer's needs.

So, what will you be doing as a Manufacturing Engineer (Controls Engineer)?

  •  Collaboratively design, test, and troubleshoot new components for new and existing machines
  • Control and Coordinate improvement projects with outside vendors, internal engineering, and maintenance
  • Work cross-functionally amongst all Leggett brands and plants
  • Design electrical circuits and build prototypes to prove concepts
  • Program various PLC’s, primarily A-B, and function in multiple ladder logic programs
  • Program and work with Cognex vision systems and Fanuc robotics systems

 

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Hands-on experience in troubleshooting servo systems, electro-mechanical systems, and test engineering
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical departments
  • Self-motivation, organization, and attention to detail
  • Project management and timeline development skills
  • 2-3 years electrical wiring and troubleshooting experience
  • 2-3 years of PLC and Ladder Logic experience
  • 2-3 years of Electrical Engineering experience
  • Knowledge of Fanuc robots

 

Things we consider a plus:

  •  Supervisor and/or Manager experience preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred
