The Corporate Internal Audit department of Leggett & Platt Inc. is seeking an intern to join our global Internal Audit at Corporate Headquarters in Carthage, Missouri. Our Internal Audit department plays a critical role in evaluating and enhancing the effectiveness of our company’s governance, risk management, and internal control processes and, providing valuable insights that help drive operational efficiency, ensure compliance, and safeguard our global organization.

 

As an Internal Audit Intern, you will gain real world skills through analyzing processes, performing audits, and identifying areas for improvement across our global operations. We’re looking for someone who takes initiative and is a team player with natural curiosity, amazing communication skills, keen analytical abilities, and organizational excellence. We will focus on providing you with exposure to our internal team and opportunities to collaborate with professionals across Corporate departments and manufacturing facilities around the world, enhancing your knowledge of auditing practices and business operations.

 

So, what will you be doing as an Internal Audit Intern?

  • Perform financial, operational and integrated audits and internal control reviews
  • Review the suitability of internal control design
  • Conduct audit testing and identify reportable issues
  • Determine compliance with policies and procedures
  • Assist with audits of SOX 404 key control testing across the enterprise
  • Draft and communicate findings to management

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Pursing a 4-year or graduate degree, preferably in Accounting or Finance
  • Must have had at least one fundamental accounting course
  • Able to work independently and as a member of a collaborative team

 

Things we consider a plus:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong analytical, written/verbal communication, and relational skills
  • Ability to adjust quickly to processes and work environments
