As an Estimator/Quoter you will have the opportunity to assess the resources, costs, and timelines needed to execute a project, ensuring that operations can be planned, budgeted and executed efficiently.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by bridging planning and execution by providing accurate, actionable cost and resource estimates that enable operation teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.  The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values challenging work and diversity of thought. 

So, what will you be doing as an Estimator/Quoter?

  • As needed suggest bills of material and route of machined parts from instructions on blueprints
  • Estimate the time that is required to machine parts at each operation/machining center
  • As needed suggest changing bills of materials as required for parts or machines
  • Follow all written procedures, work instructions, and quality plans
  • Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformity’s related to product and process
  • Identify and record any problems relating to the product, process, and the management system
  • Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels
  • Verify the implementation of solutions
  • Report to the Operations Manager any recommendations to provide solutions
  • Conform to all Quality/Safety requirements and procedures
  • Participating in Continuous Improvement Process
  • Perform other duties as requested or as deemed appropriate

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • Must have Machinist/manufacturing/fabrication/machine build background
  • Basic computer skills necessary
  • Must possess thorough understanding of machine, component and fabrication prints/drawings
  • Must have knowledge of manufacturing process
  • Must have the ability to look at a print/drawing or the part and determine routing process/machining process
  • Must be able to work with the customers when there are questions about what is being quoted 
  • Must be able to estimate time at each operation to manufacture a part
  • Must be able to negotiate with vendors concerning price, delivery and quality
  • Must have a cooperative attitude, necessary to work effectively with others
  • Able to meet deadlines under adverse and/ or fast-paced circumstances
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must be able to fill out all necessary paperwork accurately
  • Commitment to Quality Management Systems and Continuous Improvement
  • Commitment to L&P Safety and Environmental initiatives
