Embedded Software Engineer

As an Embedded Software Engineer you will have the opportunity to develop software and hardware for new and existing electronics.  Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by watching your software come to life.  The team you will be working with is collaborative and innovative, and values strategic thinking and attention to detail. 

 

So, what will you be doing as an Embedded Software Engineer?

  • Work with a team of software and hardware engineers to program and troubleshoot firmware for various consumer products, and to develop interoperability with mobile applications, PC software, and other embedded devices
  • Design and implement hardware abstractions and embedded drivers to support high‐level applications
  • Evaluate and test prototype hardware designs for correctness and suitability
  • Apply engineering principles and logical problem-solving skills for diverse projects
  • Build user interfaces, test equipment, test plans, and automated tests to support testing processes

 

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience with C, C++, and embedded software development
  • Understanding of embedded microarchitectures and optimized data structures
  • Experience with source code management and related tools such as Git
  • Familiarity with electronic test equipment
  • Experience with ARM microcontrollers

 

Things we consider a plus:

· Experience with other microarchitectures (RISC, MIPS, 8051, etc.)

· Experience with additional programming languages such as Rust, Python, C#

· Experience with motor control firmware, LED control, PWM, etc.

· Experience with real‐time operations and multitasking technologies such as RTOS,

   threading, coroutines, async/await, interrupts and safety, etc.

· Experience with embedded Bluetooth or Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) stacks

· Experience with Agile and DevOps processes

· Knowledge of PCB design fundamentals

· 3‐5 years consumer product software development experience
