About Our Team:
At Leggett & Platt, our Segment Reporting Department plays a vital role in consolidating financial data across our global operations. From preparing shareholder reports to supporting external audits, our team ensures accuracy, transparency, and compliance with accounting standards. We collaborate across divisions to deliver insights that drive strategic decision-making and uphold our reputation for financial integrity.
In This Role:
As a Corporate Accounting Intern seated on-site at our corporate headquarters in Carthage, MO, you’ll gain hands-on experience in the accounting systems and reporting processes while managing a minimum of a 20-hour work week during the school year. This internship offers the opportunity to work directly on account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and internal reporting—while interacting with division staff, operating managers, and external auditors.
So, what will you be doing as a Corporate Accounting Intern?
- Prepare account reconciliations and analyze financial data to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements and internal management reports.
- Support the development of shareholder reports and investor-facing materials.
- Collaborate with external auditors by providing account analyses and documentation.
- Communicate regularly with division accounting teams, operating managers, and corporate departments.
- Contribute to special projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, with graduation between December 2026 and May 2028.
- Completion of at least one college-level accounting course.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Professionalism and adaptability in a dynamic corporate setting.
Things we consider a plus:
- GPA of 3.3 or higher.
- Prior experience with financial reporting, reconciliations, or audit support.
- Interest in corporate finance, public company reporting, or investor relations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity about how financial data informs business strategy.
