Precision Hydraulic Cylinders (PHC) is a global leader in the design and manufacture of high‑performance hydraulic cylinders for demanding applications. We are committed to quality, safety, and continuous improvement—and we are expanding our engineering capability to support our growing operations.
We are seeking a Certified Weld Engineer to lead welding engineering, automation development, and weld quality initiatives across our manufacturing processes. This role is essential in advancing PHC’s welding technology, supporting innovation, and ensuring the structural integrity of every cylinder we produce.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, qualify, and maintain WPS, PQR, and WPQ documentation in accordance with AWS standards.
- Provide engineering support for GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SAW, and automated welding applications.
- Identify and evaluate new welding technologies, advanced waveforms, and weld monitoring tools.
- Lead implementation and validation of robotic welding systems, fixtures, and automated processes.
- Conduct weld design reviews with focus on joint design, heat input, metallurgy, and distortion control.
- Ensure compliance with AWS codes, customer requirements, and PHC quality standards.
- Perform root‑cause analysis and corrective action for weld‑related nonconformances.
- Support Lean/CI initiatives and optimize welding parameters, tooling, and process flow.
- Train and support welders through technical coaching and qualification testing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or related field.
- AWS certification required (CWI, CWE, or SCWI preferred).
- 3–5+ years of welding engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of welding metallurgy, heat input, and process control.
- Experience developing and qualifying WPS/PQR/WPQ documentation.
- Working knowledge of AWS codes and weld inspection criteria.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with hydraulic cylinders, pressure‑containing components, or structural weldments.
- Hands-on experience with robotic/automated welding systems.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proficiency with CAD, 3D modeling, or weld simulation software.
