In this role, the Quality Systems Engineer will provide leadership and strategic guidance for overall management and continual improvement of the company's Business Management System, ensuring compliance with corporate and local requirements, customer requirements, current ISO 9001/14001 requirements, and other applicable quality standards. This position is responsible for supplier quality and calibration and has supervisory responsibilities for both functions. The Quality Systems Engineer reports to the Quality Manager.

 

Develop and deploy compliance initiatives ensuring success of business goals and objectives. Participate in and coordinate Kaizens. Communicate with the Leadership Team improvement ideas, status of projects, and otherinformation needed for success. Support plant compliance processes while maintaining a strong focus on continual improvement. The incumbent will be a key driver of the corrective action and continual improvement processes to maintain and improve various compliance requirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Work in a safe manner and adhere to safety rules and requirements.

· Develop, implement, and maintain ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 policies, programs, and procedures to ensure awareness and compliance with the current standards.

· Schedule and lead external audits from various customers and certifying bodies and ensure closure of findings.

· Create an internal audit schedule and ensure audit schedule is completed in a timely manner. Recruit and train internal auditors.

· Develop, implement, and maintain cleanliness policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with internal and customer cleanliness requirements.

· Supervise the Receiving Inspector and Calibration Technician.

· Develop, implement, and maintain 5S policies, programs, and procedures to ensure compliance with internal and customer 5S requirements.

· The Quality Systems Engineer is part of the Quality management team and will participate in strategic planning for the Quality department.

· The Quality Systems Engineer is a technical resource for others based on experience and knowledge.

· Partner with management to implement continual improvement projects; assist with Kaizen events.

· Develop and improve process control plans, work instructions, and production standards.

· Support the analysis and resolution of customer complaints. Ensures actions meet customers’ expectations, are effectively implemented in the operational processes, and ultimately drive to prevention.

· Collaborate with production to ensure quality control requirements are effectively and consistently executed.

· Work with Customers to resolve quality issues.

· Perform data analysis and monitor various quality metrics.

· Perform other duties as directed by the Quality Manager.

Education and Skills

· Bachelor's degree in a related engineering, manufacturing, or business, preferred; or 4-5 years of Quality engineering or management experience in a manufacturing environment

· Be able to follow Company and general industry safety requirements

· Must be able to effectively communicate and partner with management at all levels

· Organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks with appropriate prioritization

· Proficient Microsoft Suite user

· Strong leadership skills, team building, and organizational development skills · Strong analytical competence · Be able to understand and interpret Company, Customer, and ISO processes and standards · Understand, implement, and maintain 5S fundamentals · Be able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications · Dependable · Must be a self-starter · Be able to make required measurements using various measuring and test equipment · Some travel required Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
