7:30AM - 5:00PM M-TH

7:00AM - 11:00AM Friday

 

The Quality Engineer is responsible for managing customer quality requirements, addressing quality concerns, developing quality processes, supervising hourly inspectors, establishing and maintaining cleanliness controls, and ensuring that products and services meet customer expectations. The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in a safe manner, adhere to safety rules and requirements, and promote safe working practices.
  • Supervise and coordinate activities of Quality inspectors across two shifts.
  • Create inspection plans and update as needed for quality issues, new products, and other related reasons.
  • Assist with training Quality and Production personnel.
  • Serve as the customer quality liaison for customers regarding quality-related matters. 
  • Communicate customer requirements, concerns, and feedback to internal teams.
  • Investigate and resolve customer complaints and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams internally to identify root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to address customer concerns.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to address quality gaps and improve processes.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to analyze root causes of quality escapes and develop robust corrective actions. 
  • Communicate findings and resolutions with customers in a timely and transparent manner.
  • Support customer audits and visits by providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries.
  • Track and report on customer quality metrics, including defect rates, returns, and complaints. Monitor trends and pursue opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer quality issues, corrective actions, and communications.
  • Lead and develop cleanliness and contamination controls in the hydraulic cylinder manufacturing environment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements, industry standards, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Represent the company during customer quality reviews and meetings.
  • Travel when needed to foster a healthy business relationship with customers.

 

Education and Skills 

  • Bachelor's degree in related engineering, manufacturing, or business, preferred; or 3-5 years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Be able to follow Company and general industry safety requirements.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customers and all levels of leadership.
  • Organized and able to effectively manage multiple tasks with appropriate prioritization.
  • Proficient Microsoft Suite user.
  • Strong leadership skills, team building, and organizational development skills.
  • Strong analytical competence.
  • Be able to understand and interpret Company, Customer, and ISO processes and standards.
  • Understand, implement, and maintain 5S fundamentals.
  • Be able to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Dependable.
  • Must be a self-starter.
  • Be able to make required measurements using various inspection instruments.
  • Travel 10%-25%.
