Leggett & Platt, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of flooring pads and underlayment. Our carpet cushions provide luxurious comfort and support, along with enhanced carpet appearance and longevity. Our Berwick, PA location is seeking a Department Supervisor.
It is the responsibility of the Department Supervisor to ensure the department is operating safely and focused on the Mission and Goals of the Branch. Works closely with Safety, Human Resources, Maintenance Department, and Quality Manager in daily operations.
QUALIFICATIONS:• Knowledge of manufacturing processes.• Good communication skills and the ability to motivate employees.• Ability to perform job independently.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
SAFETY• Maintain safe working environment.• Lead Safety initiatives in the department as needed.• Responsible for proper procedures for accident reporting, methods and investigation.• Responsible for safety procedures.
QUALITY• Make quality checks in the department.• Ensure employees follow all quality programs.
PRODUCTION• Oversee employees and work with other supervisors in the other departments.• Ensure all employees receive proper training, achieve each appropriate training level, and get any tools that they may need to do a good job.• Ensure department employees are working at highest efficiency potential.• Must complete all necessary paperwork by respective deadlines.• Ensure that preventive maintenance is performed as scheduled.• Work to solve problems in department utilizing factual information.• Must learn working knowledge of equipment so they can assist maintenance personnel with questions and work situations as needed.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES• Responsible for department housekeeping, organization, and scrap removal.• Help to create a pleasurable work environment for employees. In addition, the Department Supervisor performs any other tasks related to the operation of this Branch as directed by the Production Manager. This position requires overtime. Supervisor also operates machines and forklifts as needed.
